1. Acceptance of the Terms

By downloading, installing, or using PaperNext, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the application.

2. Description of the Service

PaperNext is an unofficial client application for paperless-ngx, an open-source document management system. The application connects to a self-hosted paperless-ngx server to display, manage, and organize your documents.

For questions regarding server availability, data storage, or server-side processing, please contact the administrator of your paperless-ngx instance.

The app is free of charge. Optionally, you can subscribe to the paid push service "PaperNext Push" (see section 6). All other features of the app can be used without a subscription.

3. User Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

the security of your server credentials
the correct configuration and protection of your paperless-ngx server
the content you store and manage
compliance with all applicable laws
regular backups of your data

4. Disclaimer of Warranties

The PaperNext app is provided free of charge and on an "as is" basis. Section 6 additionally applies to the push service. To the extent permitted by law, we do not warrant that:

the application will operate without interruption or errors
the application will meet specific requirements
any errors will be corrected

Use of the application is at your own risk. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, rebtsoft UG (haftungsbeschränkt) is not liable for:

data loss (if preventable through proper backups)
unauthorized access by third parties to servers or data
indirect or consequential damages, or loss of profits
damages resulting from the use of the application

The following remain unaffected: intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body, or health, fraudulent concealment, guarantees, and claims under the Product Liability Act.

6. Push Service "PaperNext Push" (Subscription)

PaperNext Push notifies you on your device as soon as your paperless-ngx server has processed a new document. The service is optional and paid.

Purchase, payment and cancellation. The subscription is purchased and billed through the App Store (Apple) or Google Play; their terms apply in addition. Depending on your choice it runs for one month or one year and renews automatically for the same period unless cancelled in your store account's subscription settings at least 24 hours before it ends. The price is shown in the app before purchase. Refunds are governed by Apple's or Google's policies. Deleting the app does not end the subscription.

Requirements. The service requires paperless-ngx 3.0 or newer, an outgoing connection from your server to push.papernext.de, and permission to create workflows on the server, or a workflow that has already been set up. The app checks these requirements before purchase and, during setup, creates a "PaperNext Push" workflow on your server that you can view and delete at any time.

Scope. One subscription can be used on up to 10 devices with the same Apple ID or Google account. We forward events from your server to your devices via the Apple Push Notification service or Firebase Cloud Messaging. We strive for reliable operation but do not guarantee any particular availability or delivery at a particular time, as these also depend on Apple, Google, your server, your network and your device.

Data processed. The push service processes your devices' push tokens, the subscription status and, per event, the document number and the username of the document's owner. Usernames are stored only as a hash; document numbers and your server's address are not stored. The push service does not receive titles, content or files of your documents. Details are set out in the privacy policy.

Changes and discontinuation. We will announce any material change to or discontinuation of the push service in the app with reasonable notice.

7. Third-Party Services

PaperNext communicates with your self-hosted paperless-ngx server. Only if the push service is enabled are push.papernext.de and Apple or Google involved for delivery. We are not responsible for your server, in particular not for:

its availability or security
configuration errors or data loss on the server
third-party services or integrations your server may use

8. Intellectual Property

The proprietary source code of PaperNext (excluding the open-source components listed below) is provided free of charge. It may not be redistributed, decompiled, or reverse-engineered, to the extent permitted by law.

PaperNext uses, among others:

Flutter Framework & Dart packages (BSD-3-Clause, MIT)
paperless-ngx (GPL-3.0, used solely as a backend service via API)
additional open-source components (see "Open Source Licenses" in the app)

All open-source components retain their respective licenses.

9. Data and Privacy

Documents and their data are stored exclusively on your device and on your own paperless-ngx server. Without the push service we do not collect or transfer any data; for the push service see section 6. See the Privacy Policy for details.

10. Updates and Changes

We may modify the application or these Terms at any time. Continued use of the application constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

11. No Support Obligation

PaperNext is provided without any support guarantee. Updates or bug fixes may be offered but are not required.

12. Termination

You may stop using the application at any time by uninstalling it. Your server data remains unaffected. This does not end a push subscription, which must be cancelled in the App Store or on Google Play.

13. Applicable Law

German law applies, unless mandatory consumer protection regulations specify otherwise.
